August 24 2009: Paolo will try another attempt to swim the i 66 km of Lake Maggiore
Paolo Chiarino will again challenge the cold waters of Lake Maggiore with our yacht "More Even More" as support boat. On board an illustrious selection of athletes will provide moral support for his record attempt: the winner of several olympic, world and european competitions in 10.000 m running Alberto Cova, the decorated canoe champion Francesca Bentivoglio, furthermore Alex Bellini who has crossed the Atlantic in a rowing boat and other extreme sports champions like Maurizio Doro.
The challenge will - obviously subject to weather conditions - start in the Swiss village of Tenero on the north end of the lake the 24th of august at 7 p.m.. Will Paolo be able to finish this titanic challenge in less than 24 hours?
The president of the Italian naval league Luca Padovani has confermed his support and our dear friend Giorgio will be present on the boat as a doctor to provide medical support and continous monitoring of the athlete's physical conditions.
The rules will be the same as last time: Paolo won't be allowed to touch the boat, will wear only swimming trunks and glasses, food will be provided in floating boxes and especially...THE BEST OF LUCK TO YOU, PAOLO!
July 17 2009: Guinness World Record: 66 km swimming across Lago Maggiore
Unfortunately Paolo Chiarino had to give up his attempt to swim the Italian Lake Maggiore after "only" 55 km and 17 hours 43 minutes due to the unfavourable weather conditions and the cold. It is, however, a valid world record, exceeding the 23 hours 30 minutes and 54 km of Lake Garda. Paolo will, with help from Even More Yachting and the Lega Navale Arona, again attempt to swim the full 66 km from Tenero to Sesto Calende in 24 hours before the end of August - which would be a Guinness World Record.
