The Lake Maggiore
Lake Maggiore, also known as Lake of Verbano is one of the longest and most striking/enchanting of Italy.
In fact it offers easy maneuvering and sailing starting from the shores of Castelletto Ticino and Sesto Calende, passing by historical castles and multicolored fortresses, skimming islands that resemble jewels and reaching Switzerland where you have enchanting mountain views reflected in the water.
Its unique position also explains why fortified towns have been built here taking advantage of natural conditions to enforce their nobility.
The shores of this lake are marked by low hills where rivers and streams give way to sandy beaches and rocky outcrops. Its deep bays with their luxuriant vegetation offer unique views and if you step away from the shore you will see the Mediterranean flora give way to a mixture of hardwood forests and conifers.
